I will ONLY  be answering requests sent via email and will book the sessions based on the times I receive requests via email.  I WILL NOT be answering requests on Facebook.

I will be updating timeslots as quickly as possible as they are book.  Once you have received confirmation for your request, I will email you a Booking Contract.  At that time, a 50% non-refundable retainer is due.  If that retainer is not paid within 5 days of the email being sent, your timeslot will be forfeited and made available to others.

]]> http://honeybeeandpeony.com/blog/?feed=rss2&p=1037 0 http://honeybeeandpeony.com/blog/?p=1035 http://honeybeeandpeony.com/blog/?p=1035#comments Thu, 05 Apr 2012 18:58:08 +0000 admin http://honeybeeandpeony.com/blog/?p=1035 So, once again I got to witness a very cool nature adventure today in Sarah’s Big Backyard!   I was going to pick her up so we could head over to Bachman’s for the FABULOUS Gathering of Friends Antique Sale & Idea House, so had brought my camera along to click some photos of “inspirational” items at the sale and in the house.  But, when I arrived at their house, there was somewhat of an “emergency” going on!

Sarah and Family recently noticed that there was a pair of Great Horned Owls now taking up residency in a nest at the tippy top of a White Pine tree in their yard.  They were starting to wonder if maybe they were working on hatching some baby owls.  Well, today they found out that there were indeed baby owls living in the nest because they spotted up fluff ball sitting by their children’s play house and realized it was a baby owl!  Somehow this little fluffy bundle managed to fall out of the nest (which I would estimate to be at least 4 stories tall)!  Yikes!

So, they called the Wood Lake Nature Center (right by their house) who came out to assist them with the baby owl.  Upon my arrival, they were taking a look at the little owlet to make sure he was not injured.   Here’s the little guy getting his checkup:

I learned that when this little guy grows up, some of his favorite foods will be mice and get this, CROWS!  Holy cow!

They estimated that he is about 2 weeks old.

And then he was put into this little bushel basket and they attempted to put him into one of the very first branches of the White Pine Tree.  But, they could not even reach it with their extension ladder.  So, they put him in a tree across the yard.  They let us know that the mother or father owl would hear the cried of the baby and would fly down to it to feed it and take care of it. Here he is in his basket and going up into his new home.

I was SO worried about this little guy but thrilled to hear that late tonight, Sarah heard the baby and mama owl communicating with each other and then saw mam swoop down into the cedar tree to take care of her baby.  I’m just amazed by this!

UPDATE:  Friday March 30th – Daddy Owl was spotted giving Mommy Owl a mouse to feed to Baby this morning!  They have been spending lots of time caring for the little one!

How in the world have five whole years gone by since this crazy, fun, energetic and intelligent little man entered this world as an 8 lb 10oz bundle of sweetness?  He decided to make his  way into the world about 12 days early after I squeezed in one last photo shoot and lunch with some of my dearest friends. I’m glad he allowed me to have a little lunch before my water broke on my friends couch and in a frenzy, my girls got me back home and then Jim got me to the hospital!  It was such a fun way for it to happen!  I had my camera along so we were even able to set it up on a ledge and snap a quick photo of the four of us before I made my way home and then to the hospital.  I guess I really didn’t have to rush since he wasn’t born until about 13 hours of labor and 4 hours of pushing passed.  And surprise!  He made his arrival on April Fools Day/Palm Sunday 2007!

Jacob has been a joy to have as a son and NEVER EVER provides a dull moment!  YES, he challenges me daily, but also makes me smile and laugh every day, too. He keeps me on my toes at all times!  I LOVE YOU, Jacob!

We had an impromptu photo session in the middle of our street with his bunch of balloons he picked out for his bowling birthday party.  A black one, of course, since that is his favorite color.  A special smiley face yellow balloon (Can’t see it in the photo) that he hand picked and some other coordinating colors   He was so concerned about standing in the middle of the street.  I had to convince him that it was ok for him to do that.

On another super exciting note, we will hopefully have another little one’s birthday to celebrate in the middle of November!  I have been trudging through my first trimester of pregnancy, now at  7 weeks.  It’s still early in the game, but we are excited none the less.  I have yet to decide what I’ll be doing for “maternity leave”, etc… But for now, I’m just concentrating on getting through the next month or so and making it through the first trimester!  I will announce in more detail what will happen once  I can wrap my brain around everything and process a clear thought!  (I know that all of you who have been pregnant know what I mean

These photos were taken at the the farm of Herman, our good friend’s Great Uncle.  It’s hard to believe that this was 7 years ago almost to the day.  Herman passed away last year and the farm is no longer in the family, so these are an amazing keepsake.  It’s amazing how time flies.  Back then I was newly engaged and planning a wedding, childless and shooting strictly film and practically only weddings.

I truly enjoy personal work like this and wish I could share more of it!  I hope you enjoy looking at these images.
